Our users need a fast and efficient way to locate local non-profit organizations and donate or volunteer to their causes because they can’t travel too far and they need to know which organizations near them currently need help.
Our web application will allow its users to find local volunteer and donation opportunities. They will be able to stop by in person to donate items, donate online, or sign up for volunteer opportunities. This will affect how the users connect with organizations in need by providing an easy way for the users to find and donate to them. We will measure effectiveness by analyzing the app usage, donation, and volunteer rates.
During foundational UX research, surveys and interviews were conducted to help us create personas, problem statements, and discover potential pain points. We learned that some of our targeted users have limited knowledge about how to locate local non-profit organizations. They want a choice to donate in person or online. Some of them can’t afford to donate and prefer to volunteer their time. They also want to be informed on how much more donation or volunteers each organization still need.
I made the navigation simple and put the local options first since research indicates that most of the users are interested in local opportunities.
The opportunities listing page includes filter and sort functions to help customize the experience for each user. The “Urgent Need” label let users know which organizations need help urgently.
Users can choose how they help the organizations. Some organizations may accept donation, money, and volunteer.
